aaarrrggghhhh!!!!!As someone who is working with devs to make audio plugs for my own and limited shared use, that is the biggest load of crap I've heard in a while. I want the software but now I am looking at the alternatives. I felt like saying, "So some guy came up with a bad idea, and now it cannot be reversed?" Anyhow, it is frustrating. I sent them an email recently but they said that due to how they set things up originally for sales, it cannot be changed. Someone at Toontrack should reverse that policy, slap the idiot who came up with it and apologise to the community, promising never to do it again. That is literally what they proposed to existing and loyal customers. Buy it by x date or we'll screw you for more money after x date. What they showed in this move was contempt. What wrenched my gut was the 'time limited offer'įrom a customers perspective, there is no reason or need for it. Going to go check out Steven Slate drums now.Spot on! My original post was not about an upgrade price, considering the quality of this tool, it's a no brainer. I realize that there was an upgrade price, but why make it a time limited offer? I can go to my Steinberg account and they have upgrade prices available to people who are many versions behind the most recent version of Cubase for example.

Does that make sense to anyone? I paid more for Superior Drummer 2 and no upgrade price? Right now there is a special crossgrade price available for EZDrummer 2 owners but there is no special upgrade price available for Superior Drummer 2 owners. I am not happy with what they have done either. I can only think that they must have money troubles.

Why do they go and soil the waters with this tacky move. Cubase, Nuendo, Wavelab and other DAWs, plugins etc have all had upgrades to new version over the years and there has always been an upgrade path. The excuse they used in the 'why now' part has no foundation at all. Whoever made this decision seems to have a lack of understanding how users feel about being strong armed into an upgrade before they are ready, solely because the company concerned, 'Toontrack', is ripping the carpet out from under them. If they tried something like this I'd sell it all and migrate to another providers eco system. I own all Steinberg products from Nuendo down. There should always be an upgrade path between versions. This a ****e move by Toontrack and stinks of a money grab and literally nothing else.
